KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr Farooq Sattar broke silence over party failure saying that the MQM-P suffered collapse and an inter-party election should be held soon.
Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, Sattar said that he had submitted his resignation from the party’s Rabita Committee on September 13 due to his personal reasons.
The resignation had come in the backdrop of Sattar’s confirmation that he was consulting with his close friends over an offer he had received from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to join the party.
He lamented that during the July 25 polls, MQM-P’s seats went from 17 to 4 and the upcoming by-polls will be the party’s next test.
“MQM is not like a cat that is on hot bricks”, he said. In the real picture, Sattar stepped back from MQM-P matters after he was not issued a ticket for the by-election.
He believed that he was being punished for the November 9, 2017 press conference at which he dramatically resigned.
“I owned the leadership of MQM-P since 23 August after the disqualification of MQM-P founder and then 11 February it was snatched from me by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui”, he said
MQM-P is going to parish due to its management, all the delegates, workers, and activists of MQM-P are supposed to be united to save sinking party.
Moreover, differences between Sattar and leaders of the party, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Amir Khan, had intensified prior to the General Elections 2018 held on July 25, following which MQM-P was split into two groups Sattar’s PIB and Amir Khan’s Bahadurabad faction.
